Ontario’s Certified Crop Advisor program is administered by the American Society of Agronomy and a Provincial Regulating board. Individuals become certified by meeting the rigorous standards of the program including….
- Having the equivalent of 4 years crop advising experience depending on educational background.
- Achieving a passing grade on National and Provincial exams that evaluate four areas – Soil Fertility, Integrated Pest Management, Crop Production and Soil and Water Quality.
- Providing references which document education and experience.
Once certified, CCA’s must complete 40 hours of quality Agronomic Education every two years.
Certified Crop Advisors combine the knowledge of science, food safety, technology, economics and environment with their local experience to give sound crop production recommendations.
